I don't want to go back to the Traxxas wheels given they are not the best quality units.Introduced by Traxxas in 2010, the 4WD Slash 4x4 Ultimate Short Course Truck - # 6807 - was the RTR version of the Slash 4x4 Platinum, and came with five officially licensed Replica bodyshell options, namely - Mike Jenkins Edition (Traxxas #47), Mark Jenkins Edition (Traxxas #25), Scott Douglas/Mike Oberg Edition (AMSOIL), Greg Adler Edition (4 Wheel Parts) and Jerry Whelchel Edition (Chet Huffman Motorsports).įor other Slash Race Replica versions, Check out our Traxxas Archive. The Pro-Line wheels are for the Slash 4x4, so not sure how I am going to fix it. I tried the stock Traxxas wheels, and there is minimal slop with no shims, using two eliminates all of it. I had a bit of a look around on the web, and found a couple of posts where Tekno recommend that shims may be required (I received 2 for each wheel), however this doesn't even come close to fixing the slop (nearly a centimetre of movement). I tried with Pro-Line Split-Six's, and it has the same result. On closer inspection, basically, the hex isn't pushing tight enough into the wheel to lock, hence there is a huge amount of slop on all four wheels. No issues whatsoever with the build, other than the front carriers were missing two bump steer spacers, so I have used two on each carrier rather than the three per wheel that it should be using.Īlso, (and this is a huge issue) I noticed the shocking slop in the wheels. All the RPM parts, Tekno CVD's, Pro-Line body extenders & body arrived. All I really need are the diffs / diff housings and turnbuckles along with some bearings & HDFanboy - Excellent, glad to hear you didn't have any issues! In hindsight, it would have been cheaper to order the few parts required from the actual original Slash, however I figure it wont cost a whole lot more to get enough parts to build a complete second LCG Slash from what I have left over. I also have the complete LCG Chassis kit & center diff for the Slash, however don't think I will use them in the short term. I am curious to know how much difference the rest will make to the truck in terms of its strength and handling. Stupidly I forgot to order the front & rear RPM A-arms, however will do so soon. I have also ordered the following however still waiting on delivery:Ħ) King Headz Traxxas Slash 4x4 Aluminum Motor Mount w/Telemetry Mountħ) King Headz Traxxas Slash 4x4 Slipper Bearing Adapter (1)Ĩ) Traxxas Slipper Clutch Rebuild Kit (TRA5352R)ĩ) Traxxas Revo Slipper pressure plate and hub (alloy)ġ0) Tekno RC Big Bone Center Driveshaft & Outdrive Kitġ1) RPM Rear Shock Tower Slash/Stampede/Rally 4X4ġ2) RPM Front Shock Tower Slash/Stampede 4X4ġ4) Tekno RC M6 Rear Driveshaft/Hub Carriers 6mm Slashġ5) RPM Rod Ends Long Black 1/10 Traxxas Nitro Slashġ6) Tekno RC M6 Fr Driveshaft/Steering Block 6mm Slashġ7) Pro-Line Extended Front/Rear Body Mounts Slash 4X4ġ8) RPM Front Bumper & Skid Plate Black Slash 4X4Ģ0) Pro-Line Desert Raid Clear Body PRO-2 SC/Slash/4X4 Using a Turnigy nano-tech A-SPEC G2 5000mah 4S 65~130C Lipo Pack, the truck goes like a rocket. These upgrades made a massive difference to both the speed and handling of the truck. Here is the list to date of installed upgrades:ģ) Extended battery bar (so I can run 4S) I had a new Traxxas Slash 4x4, however was disappointed by its speed and handling on the Velineon on 2S, and it is too heavy to run on 3S, so decided to upgrade: I know they receive a fair amount of criticism, however I figured I would give it a go to make a truck suitable for the kids to bash & me to thrash. Thought I might post on my latest project: To make a Traxxas Slash 4x4 bash proof.
